Abstract

　斜め方向のコントラスト比が高く、光抜けが少なく、斜め方向のカラーシフトが小さく、極めて薄型の、液晶パネルおよび液晶表示装置を提供すること。 　本発明の液晶パネルは、液晶セルと、液晶セルの一方の側に配置された第１の偏光子と光学素子（Ａ）と光学素子（Ｂ）と、液晶セルの他方の側に配置された第２の偏光子とを備え、光学素子（Ａ）が、ｎｘ＞ｎｚ＞ｎｙの屈折率楕円体を示し、特定の多環式化合物から形成され、Ｎｚ係数が０．０５～０．４５であり、光学素子（Ｂ）が、ｎｘ＞ｎｚ＞ｎｙの屈折率楕円体を示し、Ｎｚ係数が０．５５～０．９５である。
