Abstract

A glass is bonded to another material including a glass by alkali bonding. Namely, a fine channel (30) for use in a microchip is formed in one quartz glass (20a). Another quartz glass (10a) is immersed in a 5 wt.% alkali solution for 5 minutes. Thereafter, this quartz glass (10a) is superposed on the quartz glass (20a) having the channel (30) formed therein. The glasses are held in the superposed state for a given time at a given temperature and given pressure to complete bonding. By this method, the bonding of a glass to a material other than a glass is easily conducted.
