Abstract

In a vibration damping device, a short-circuit flow path (R) and a plate spring-supported check valve (90) are provided at the center of a partition member (44). The short-circuit flow path (R) interconnects a main liquid chamber (84) and a sub liquid chamber (86). The plate spring-supported check valve (90) opens and closes the short-circuit flow path (R). The plate spring-supported check valve (90) closes the short-circuit flow path (R) when the pressure in the main liquid chamber (84) is equal to or higher than a predetermined level and opens the short-circuit flow path (R) when the pressure in the main liquid chamber (84) is lower than the predetermined level. The construction prevents noise and vibration caused by cavitation and provides the vibration damping device with a low dynamic/static ratio of spring constant in a wide vibration range.
