Abstract

 側面成形面を有するビーム整形素子等の光学素子を、溶融ガラス滴を加圧成形することによって高効率、且つ高精度に製造することができる光学素子の製造方法を提供する。  下型に、成形金型よりも温度が高い所定体積の溶融ガラス滴を供給した後、成形金型で溶融ガラス滴を加圧成形して、上成形面と側面成形面との間に、成形金型と接触せずに固化する自由面を形成する。供給する溶融ガラス滴の体積は、上成形面と側面成形面とを延長した場合における延長した上成形面、延長した側面成形面、及び、下成形面によって構成される空間の体積の0.8倍以上、0.97倍以下とする。
