Abstract

 本発明の目的は、光透過率が高く、低消費電力、均一な輝度分布、光学設計効率が高く、低価格、を向上する液晶表示装置用の照明装置、光学装置を提供することである。 光源(10)からの光を放物面鏡(9)によって平行光に変換し、平行光を棚田状に配置する 凸反射面(5)によって液晶サブ画素幅に光束を拡げて反射し、凸反射面(5)の段差を光束密度に反比例して増大することにより液晶に入射する光束密度を均一にする。 ストライプ分配素子(2)は、棚田状導光板(1)からの出射光を、1入射部でストライプ内 の3つの液晶サブ画素に分配することを基本単位とする。 棚田状導光板(1)からの出射光の 1/3の光量は、透過/反射分別部の透過部(6)において鉛直方向にある液晶サブ画素に透過する。 残り2/3の光量は、透過/反射分別部の反射面(7)で2方向に反射し、さらに液晶対向側反射面(8)で反射して、2つの液晶サブ画素に入射する。 本発明では、1光源から1サブ画素に照射する構造に比べて光源の数を削減可能であり、しかも、複数色光源の採用によりカラーフィルタ無しで複数色表示可能である。
