Abstract

 本発明の複合焼結体は、20体積%以上80体積%以下の立方晶窒化硼素粒子と結合材とを有する複合焼結体であって、該結合材は、周期律表第4a族元素、第5a族元素、第6a族元素の窒化物、炭化物、硼化物、酸化物、およびこれらの固溶体からなる群の中から選択された少なくとも一種と、Zr、Si、Hf、Ge、W、Coの単体、化合物、および固溶体からなる群の中から選択された少なくとも1種と、Alの化合物とからなり、該複合焼結体中にW及び/又はCoが含有される場合には、該W及び/又はCoの合計重量は2.0重量%未満であり、かつ該Zr、Si、Hf、Ge(以下、「X」とする。)のいずれか一以上を含有し、当該Xを含有する場合は、該Xはそれぞれ0.005重量%以上2.0重量%未満であり、かつX/(X+W+Co)が0.01以上1.0以下を満たし、かつAlの重量が2.0重量%以上20.0重量%以下であることを特徴とする。
