Abstract

 光干渉回路においては、光路長差に起因する偏波依存性を、干渉回路の中央部に半波長板を挿入して解消しようとしていた。しかし、光干渉回路内で使用される方向性結合器において発生する偏波変換光によって、通常光に対する干渉条件と異なる干渉が生じる。偏波変換光に起因して、干渉回路の透過スペクトル特性においてPDfなどの偏波依存性を生じる問題があった。入射光の全偏波状態に対して90°または-90°回転させる旋光子を光干渉回路に挿入することで、偏波変換光の干渉条件と、通常光の干渉条件を同一とする。2枚の半波長板を用い、これらの半波長板を組み合わせる角度を変えて旋光子を実現する。また、1枚の半波長板と複屈折性を有する導波路とを組み合わせて旋光子を実現する。
