Abstract

The present invention relates to methods and kits for the detection and diagnosis of cancer or precancerous conditions. Methylation of specific genes has been identified as indicative of cancer and methods of the invention, in part, relate to the detection of methylation levels in cells as a determination of cancer or a precancerous condition in the cell. In particular, the methylation levels of QPCT, LXN, PCSKl, MFAP2, WFDCl, CDH8 and LRRC2 in melanoma is measured.
