Abstract
A method of making an aggregate for use in construction, the method including: providing an admixture comprising: a first residue selected from the group of fly ashes, the first residue making up 20% to 85% by dry weight of the admixture, and a second residue selected from the group of inorganic residues, the second residue making up 10% to 80% by dry weight of the admixture and having a particle size defined by at most 50% of the second residue passing a 0.125 mm sieve; mixing the admixture; adjusting the moisture content of the admixture by adding an amount of water to form a wet mix; and processing the wet mix to form the aggregate. Aggregates obtainable by the method are also discussed.
