Field of the invention The present invention relates to the field of articles for smokers and, in particular, it relates to a cigarette end holder of small size adapted to be easily transported in a pocket by a smoker.
Background of the invention One of the problems that occur usually to a smoker is the disposal of the butt or cigarette end containing the filter, once the cigarette has been smoked.
Without a ashtray, for example when walking and in open spaces in general, improperly smokers disperse in the environment the ash and the butt, with subsequent pollution.
This phenomenon is very frequent at the entrance of public places, where smoking is forbidden, wit accumulation of butts left from people who want get rid of get rid it hurriedly.
It is felt, then, the need of a cigarette end holder, of small size and easily portable also in a pocket or in a breast pocket or in a bag, adapted to contain the ash and the butts of smoked cigarettes, so that they can be then disposed of in suitable places.
The use as cigarette end holder of a small container, for example a small box of metal or plastic is not decisive remedy, since when opening it after a previous use, the butts and the ash in it already contained tend to come out or in any case are visible annoying the user.
Summary of the invention
It is a feature of the present invention to provide a cigarette end holder of small size and easily portable in a pocket or a breast pocket or a bag, adapted to contain the ash and the butts of the smoked cigarettes, without the drawbacks above described.
It is further feature of the invention to provide a device that can be cheaply manufactured and easily assembled, and is suitable for an industrial production.
These and other objects are achieved by a cigarette end holder of small size, pocketable and lightweight, with box-like shape, adapted to contain inside the ash and the butts of smoked cigarettes, characterised in that it comprises:
- a portion that can be opened equipped with an opening, having:
- a fixed grid in said opening that obstructs a first portion of said opening, said grid being adapted to the passage of the ash and to put out said butts; - a stopping element normally closed that obstructs the remaining portion of said opening, said stopping element being such that it can be opened for introducing said butts; - a box-like portion arranged under said portion that can be opened and adapted to contain butts so that they are contained always under said grid and said stopping element.
In particular, said stopping element comprises two tapering plane elements, in particular forming an L-shaped member, pivotally connected to said opening, in order to freely rotate about an axis parallel to the line of incidence of said plane elements.
Advantageously said two tapering plane elements have different thicknesses with respect to each other, so that said stopping element is normally closed by the difference of weight between said two tapering plane elements. Alternatively, said stopping element remains in closed position by a resilient force.
In a preferred exemplary embodiment said portion that can be opened comprises a cover suitable for its opening/closing, said cover being connected to said portion that can be opened by means of an element selected from the group comprised of: a flexible tang, a hinge, a sliding coupling.
In particular, said cover comprises a protruding shoulder adapted to occupy the space above said grid and blocking said stopping element in closed position when said cover is closed.
In particular, said opening of said portion that can be opened comprises at least one protruding shoulder, adapted to block said stopping element in a stroke limit position.
Preferably, the protruding shoulder is adapted to keep the stopping element pressed against the protruding shoulder when the cover is closed, in order to prevent the stopping element from accidentally swinging. Advantageously, said box-like portion has a shape selected from the group comprised of:
- parallelepiped;
- cylindrical;
- complex shape. Advantageously said cigarette end holder comprises elements obtained by means of injection moulding process of plastic material or metal.
Brief description of the drawings
The invention will be made clearer with the description of some its exemplary embodiments, exemplifying but not limitative, with reference to the attached drawings wherein: - Figure 1 shows a perspective view of a cigarette end holder according to the invention in a closed position;
- Figure 2 shows such a device in open position;
- Figure 3 shows a cigarette end holder wherein a portion that can be opened is shown in a way separated from a box-like portion:
- Figure 4 shows a cross sectional view of the above described portion that can be opened wherein said stopping element is in closed position; - Figure 5 shows the above described portion that can be opened, having the stopping element in open position,
- Figure 6 shows a perspective view of the above described stopping element; - Figure 7 shows a perspective view of a cigarette end holder having a cover with a protruding shoulder;
- Figures 8 and 9 show a cross section of a portion that can be opened having a cover with protruding shoulder, respectively in open and closed position. Description of a preferred exemplary embodiment In the following description an example will be disclosed of a cigarette end holder of small size, lightweight and pocketable, adapted to contain ash and butts of smoked cigarettes.
Figure 1 shows a perspective view of a cigarette end holder 1 in closed position, consisting of a portion that can be opened 3 and a box-like portion 2.
Similarly, figure 2 shows such a cigarette end holder 1 in open position, where the portion that can be opened 3 is open.
Figure 3 shows the portion that can be opened 3 separated from the box-like portion 2, so that the box-like portion 2 is emptied of its content of ash and butts.
More in detail, the portion that can be opened 3 comprises a base 10, having a section 11 adapted to fit on said box-like portion 2, and a cover 12. Such cover 12 is connected to the base 10 by a flexible tang 35, or alternatively, with a hinge.
The cover 12 has a reference edge 13, adapted to align this cover to the above described base 10 when the cover 12 is closed. The cover 12 has a closure member 15.
The base 10 comprises a grid 21, which obstructs partially an opening of base 10, and a stopping element 20 normally closed, which obstructs the remaining part of the above described opening of base 10. Grid 21 allows the ash to fall down and to put out the butt, whereas a recess 40 allows the butts to be put in the cigarette end holder 1. Cover 12 and base 10 have respective recesses 16 and 14 to assist the opening of the portion that can be opened 3. Figure 4 and figure 5 show a cross section of the portion that can be opened 3 in an open position. In particular, in figure 4 stopping element 20 is in closed position, whereas in figure 5 stopping element 20 is in open position. The rotation for opening and closing stopping element 20 is stopped by protruding shoulders 22 and 23, as stroke limit of stopping element 20. The introduction of the butts, not shown in the figure, is carried out through recess 40, which is open during the
introduction step of the butt, causing stopping element 20 to rotate up to the open position shown in figure 5.
Figure 6 shows a perspective view of a stopping element 20 according to the invention, consisting of two tapering plane elements 30 and 31, where the plane element 31 is much heavier than plane element 30, whereby stopping element 20, free of rotating about axis 32, is naturally closed.
Figure 7 shows a perspective view of an exemplary embodiment of said cigarette end holder 1, having a portion that can be opened 3 with a cover 12 comprising a shaped portion 50, which when the cover 12 is closed occupies the space above grid 21 and blocks stopping element 20 in closed position. This way, when the cigarette end holder 1 is closed, the ash and the butts remain in box 2, and remain hidden under grid 21 and stopping element 20 when the cover is open.
In figure 8 a cross section is shown of a portion that can be opened 3 in open position, comprising a cover 12 pivotally connected to portion 3 by a hinge 35. This cover 12 has shaped portion 50 adapted to occupy a space larger than grid 21 and to block stopping element 20 when the cover is closed. In figure a butt 51 is shown while it is put into opening 40, causing stopping element 20 to rotate. In figure 9 the cover 12 is depicted in closed position. Stopping element 20 rests on shoulders 23 and 22 and is kept closed by shaped portion 50.
This way a migration of ash to the upper part of the portion that can be opened is avoided.
