Abstract

The invention relates to an apparatus and a method for producing hydrogen by means of at least one solar cell (1) which is spatially assigned to at least one electrolytic cell (2) encompassing an electrolyte and is operated with the aid of highly focused sunlight (3). According to the invention, the solar cell (1) is configured so as to be cooled by the electrolyte penetrating the electrolytic cell (2) such that the solar cell can be operated more economically.
