Abstract

An RNA-binding protein Musashi 2 having an amino acid sequence represented by SEQ ID NO:1 or 2 or an amino acid sequence derived therefrom by substitution, deletion, addition or insertion of one or more amino acids; and its gene. The Msi2 protein and the Msi2 gene are useful as reagents for maintaining and growing nerve precursor cells/central nerve system stem cells. Also, they are useful as reagents for forming and/or maintaining PV-containing GABA-agonistic nerve cell subpopulations. Moreover, they are useful as remedies for various nerve system diseases.
