Abstract

The invention relates to the isolation and cloning of a nucleic acid sequence which codes for the AMP deaminase from Arabidopsis thaliana. The isolated nucleic acid molecule containing the nucleic acid sequence enables the expression and isolation of a very pure plant AMP deaminase which makes it possible to detect herbicidal inhibitors of this AMP deaminase. This isolated AMP deaminase can also be used to produce transgenic plants with a greater resistance to AMP deaminase inhibitors.
