Abstract

L'invention concerne un appareil permettant d'appliquer un film collant protecteur, qui présente des surfaces collantes et non collantes, sur les parois d'un véhicule qui sont orientées vers le haut. Cet appareil comprend une unité d'application suspendue de manière à pouvoir se déplacer verticalement, le long de la trajectoire de déplacement d'un véhicule destiné à être protégé, cette unité étant munie d'un rouleau d'application primaire qui entre en contact avec la surface non collante du film et s'étend de manière transversale par rapport à ladite unité, afin de pouvoir appliquer le film sur une surface supérieure du véhicule au fur et à mesure que celui-ci se déplace le long de sa trajectoire. Des organes sont par ailleurs prévus pour imprimer un mouvement vertical à l'unité, d'autres organes permettant de détecter la pression verticale exercée sur l'unité par le rouleau d'application, et ce afin de maintenir une pression sensiblement constante entre ce rouleau d'application et le véhicule. De plus, des organes permettent d'acheminer le film collant d'un rouleau d'alimentation à l'unité d'application, laquelle est en outre pourvue d'un rouleau d'entraînement entraîné par un moteur qui tire le film collant depuis le rouleau d'alimentation. Un distributeur à vide est destiné à appliquer du vide sur plusieurs points répartis sur une surface extérieure du rouleau placé en contact avec le film collant, de manière à maintenir celui-ci contre le rouleau. Enfin, des organes permettent de détacher une longueur du film appliqué sur le véhicule, tout en laissant une extrémité de ce film, à partir de laquelle la longueur a été détachée, fixée audit rouleau d'application.
