Abstract

The present invention pertains to the field of metallurgy and more precisely relates to a structure comprising a plurality of insulation rider blocks intended for the sole pipes of heating furnaces in rolling mills. Thanks to the device of the present invention, it is possible to increase the strength of the protection jacket by reducing the deformation and breakaway risks thereof from the rider at the welding places. The protection jacket (1) is connected to the rider (2) by welding, while the rider (2) is mounted on a sole pipe (3) and attached thereto by welding as well. The gap between the protection jacket (1) and the sole pipe (3) is filled with a thermal insulation material (4) such as kaolin wool. The thickness of the protection jacket (1) represents from 0.2 to 0.5 time that of the thermal insulation material (4). In another embodiment, the thickness of the protection jacket (1) represents from 0.025 to 0.2 or from 0.5 to 2.0 times that of the thermal insulation material.
