Bei einem starken Abstützen des Fahrers an dem schwenkbaren Befestigungselement, wie dies z. B. bei einer Frontalkollision der Fall ist, wird das Gas in der Gasfeder einseitig sehr stark komprimiert. Dadurch wird das Sitzventil geöffnet, weil sich die druckbeaufschlagte Fläche am Ventilsitz im Vergleich zu der Ventilschaftfläche vergrößert, und auf diese Weise Energie abgebaut. Die maximale Zugblockierkraft ist abhängig vom Gasfederdruck und damit von der Ausschubkraft der Gasfeder. Die Lenksäule 4, auf der das Lenkrad 3 befestigt ist, ist um eine Drehachse 5 schwenkbar. B. immer dann, wenn sich der Fahrer von der Sitzhaube 2 erhebt oder wenn die Sitzhaube 2 für Wartungszwecke geöffnet werden muß - oftmals behindert die Lenksäule in der Fahrerposition das Öffnen der Haube -, die Arretierung der Gasfeder 6 löst und damit ein automatisches Verschwenken der Lenksäule 4 bewirkt.As already mentioned, the means for releasing the locking z.
