Definitions
- the present invention relates to an odorific device that, among other possible uses, finds particular application for providing flowers and plants with an odor or fragrance.
- the purpose of the present invention is to solve this lack by providing a device that allow to provide odor, for a desired period of time, to flowers of any type and size, of special interest in the case of ornamental flowers of great size, beauty and long life.
- a first object of the present invention is an odorific device, of novel concept and functionality, which in essence is characterized in that it is constituted by an essentially laminar portion, provided with a laminar core of an absorbent and porous material , adapted to retain and allow to evaporate slowly, under ambient conditions, an odorous substance that is impregnated, all so that the device is adapted to be applied on a stem, a peduncle or a leaf of a flower.
- said laminar core is applied on one of the faces of a laminar support provided on its other side with an adherent material, so that the device is adapted to be adhered on the underside of a sheet.
- the device has a configuration similar to one of the flowers in which it is applied.
- the odorous substance has a fragrance that corresponds to the natural flower in which the device is applied.
- the laminar core (10) is a non-woven polypropylene fabric.
- the device is covered by a protective envelope, which when torn or open allows the release of the odorous substance into the environment.
- a second object of the present invention is a novel odorific device, characterized in that it is constituted by a capsule that tightly encloses an odorous substance, externally coated by a sheath of a porous and air-permeable material and adapted to be opened by breaking its surface. external, produced by simple finger pressure, puncture or cut, so that the odorous substance escapes from the capsule, impregnating the sheath and being released into the surrounding ambient air.
- the capsule is made of soft gelatin.
- the device has a configuration similar to a leaf of the flower in which it is applied.
- the fragrant substance has a fragrance that corresponds to the natural one of the flower in which the device is applied.
- the sheath is a non-woven polypropylene fabric.
- the laminar support in the first case and the cover in the second constitute an obstacle to the undesirable penetration of the perfume or odorous substance in the tissues of the plant, thanks to which it is protected from the harmful action of the perfume on the plant.
- the fact that the device is hidden or camouflaged from view helps to enhance the feeling that the perceived fragrance corresponds to the natural smell of the flower.
- Fig. 1 is a sectional view of a laminar portion of a first embodiment of the odorific device of the present invention, illustrating its composition

- Fig. 5 is a perspective view of a third embodiment of the device according to the present invention.
- Fig. 6 is a perspective view schematically illustrating the mode of operation of the device according to the second and third embodiments.
- a first embodiment of the odorific device 1 according to the present invention is illustrated.
- the odorific device 1 takes the form of an essentially laminar portion, consisting of several layers 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 10.
- a laminar core 10 is adhered by one of its faces on the first face of a laminar support 3, thanks to the interposition of a first layer of adherent material 5, while on its other side, the laminar core 10 is protected with a first protective sheet 7, preferably siliconized .
- Laminar support 3 has - 7 - on its second face a second layer of adhesive material 4, also covered by a second protective sheet 6.
- the laminar core 10 is preferably of a non-woven polypropylene fabric, and is impregnated with an odorous substance 2 of an essence whose fragrance is equivalent to the natural smell of the plant or flower 9 to which it is applied, which is retained in the core laminate 10.
- Fig. 2 The application of the odorific device 1 of the first embodiment of the invention is illustrated in Fig. 2 and is as follows.
- the silicon plastic protective sheet 6 covering the adherent material 4 is separated from the laminar support 3, which exposes said adherent material 4.
- the odorific device 1 adheres to the underside of the leaf 8 of a flower 9, which in the case that is represented takes the form of a rose, through the adhesive 4 that has been exposed, in the direction indicated by the arrow in Fig. 2.
- the second protective sheet 7, which is in direct contact with the laminar core 10 impregnated with the odorous substance 2, must be removed, so that the effluents of the latter begin to perform their odorous effect, by slow evaporation and diffusion from the laminar core 10. Normally, a few drops of the odorous substance 2 will suffice so that, by arranging the odorific device 1 on only one of the leaves 8 of the flower 9, the fragrance will last throughout the lifetime of the latter.
- Fig. 2 it can be seen that the configuration of the odorific device 1 is similar to that of the leaf 8 of the flower 9 in which the device is applied. This makes it possible to provide the odorific device 1 of the present invention, in addition to its concealment because it is on the underside of the ho 8, of a certain degree of camouflage, leading to the odorific device 1 going completely unnoticed, which helps to give the feeling that the fragrance is the natural one of the flower 9.
- a second embodiment of the odorific device 1 according to the present invention is illustrated.
- the capsule 12 is preferably soft gelatin and is externally coated by a sheath 13 of a non-woven polypropylene fabric, which is a porous and air-permeable material.
- the device of this second embodiment is operative by breaking or opening the capsule 12, for example by breaking its external surface, produced by simple finger pressing, puncturing or cutting, so that the odorous substance 2 escapes from the capsule 12, impregnating the cover 13 and being released into the surrounding ambient air, which is scented with the aroma or fragrance of the flower 9 to which the device 1 of the invention is applied.
- the device has the configuration of a leaf 8 of the flower 9 in which it is applied.
- the application can be carried out by hanging the device from the stem 15 of the flower 9, by means of a flange 14 of known type, integral with one end of the sheath 13.
- a third embodiment of the odorific device 1 according to the present invention is particularly illustrated, which differs from the first embodiment of Figs. 1 and 2 in which the laminar core 10 is free of the laminar support 3 and the adherent material 4 and, on the contrary, is provided with a protective envelope 11 that covers it and a flange 14 integral with one end of the laminar core 10 .
- the device 1 has the configuration of a leaf 8 of the flower 9 in which it is applied.
- the application of the device 1 according to this third embodiment is also carried out by hanging the device 1 from the stem 15 of the flower 9, by means of a flange 14 of known type, integral with one end of the - 10 - cover 13, and then tearing or opening the envelope, which allows the release of the odorous substance 2 into the environment (Fig. 6)
- the number of layers of the laminar portion constituting the device 1 of the present invention may be different from that explained by way of example, provided that there are the layers essential for the functionality of the device according to with the invention
