Definitions
- the invention relates to a method for attaching bristles to sheet-like carriers and to a surface covering with bundles of bristles.
- Carpet systems are relatively inexpensive. However, they are not easy to clean, are disadvantageous from an aesthetic point of view after a while, do not have a very long service life and their sure-footedness is not always good enough.
- bristle bundles or strips are currently produced by means of so-called punching processes using loop or anchor technology, by means of gluing, welding, melting and pressing for strip brushes.
- a relatively high lateral guidance and a relatively large remaining thickness at the root are required for the bristle bundles.
- the carrier material must therefore be relatively thick (about 5 to 8 mm for bristle bundles of, for example, o 4 mm). Accordingly, as mentioned, the brush systems are quite high.
- the invention has for its object to provide a method that enables the production of non-slip and dirt-absorbing floor coverings with a low installation height, good cleaning properties and slip resistance at low cost.
- the invention is also intended to attach bristles to flat Chen-shaped carriers are made possible, in which little material is required and which leads to a versatile product.
- the bristle filaments are thus positively connected at one end of the bristle bundle or strip.
- the bristle filaments connected in this way are introduced into a corresponding opening in a carrier, the bristles protruding to the outside. Furthermore, the opening of the carrier on the other outside is closed.
- the method according to the invention enables the use of thin carrier materials. These can be chosen approximately 40 to 70% thinner than when using conventional methods. Through openings can be used for receiving the bundles of bristles into which the bundles of bristles need only be inserted. Therefore, no lateral guidance of the opening is required, and the relatively large base thickness of the openings of conventional supports can be dispensed with.
- the possibility of using a specially perforated carrier leads to a considerable saving in material and, in particular, a reduction in the height of the carrier layer or carrier plate (for bundles with 0 4 mm approximately 3 mm), wherein pull-out forces can be achieved as with brush stamping.
- the bristle filaments are combined into bundles with a precisely defined number of filaments. These do not always have to have a circular cross section, but can also have an elongated cross section, so that bristle strips result. These are then inserted into long openings, slots or receptacles in the carrier and fixed there.
- the bristle bundles or strips After the bristle bundles or strips have been arranged in their final position, they protrude from one outside of the carrier layer from the opening in which they are held. The opening on the other outside of the carrier layer is then closed. The top or front outside of a bristle floor covering is thus provided with bristle bundles. The bristle bundles on the back of the carrier layer are protected from the outside by closing the openings.
- the mechanical strengths and properties of a brush system produced according to the invention correspond to a conventional brush system. However, its large girder thickness and weight are missing.
- the positive connection of the bristle filaments made of plastic can be made by welding, i.e. the plastic bristle bundles are welded off.
- the bristle filaments are not made of plastic, they can be connected to one another by gluing.
- a protruding area is formed which is, for example, bulge-shaped.
- the protrusion over the bristle bundle is very small.
- it can be used to assemble the boron bundle of ten in the carrier are used, for example, if the through openings of the carrier are provided with a gradation.
- the bristle bundles are then brought to rest on the shoulder or the like in question with the protruding area or bulge, which results in a defined position and good fixing possibility of the bristle bundles during the insertion process.
- the bristle filaments can be inserted into the relevant opening of the carrier from the back of the carrier or from the front outside of the carrier.
- the bristle filaments can already be connected, in particular as a bundle of bristles, inserted into the relevant opening or only inserted into the opening at the same time. This is made possible by continuously selecting the opening in the method according to the invention.
- the bristle filaments can be inserted through the opening of the carrier into a first position, in which they can also be pulled out through the opening and on the other side. In this position, the bristle filaments are then connected, in particular welded. Then they are brought into the second end position in the carrier opening.
- This latter step can be omitted if the bristle filaments and the carrier layer or plate are made of the same material and the connection and closing step are carried out in one.
- the bristle filaments are expediently cut to the desired length after the carrier openings have been closed.
- the bristle filaments can be fed in as continuous filaments, in particular drawn off from bobbins. They are then drawn into the corresponding openings in the carrier and cut to the desired length.
- the method according to the invention is suitable for automated carrier assembly. It can be beneficial to the same Several openings in the carrier are filled with bristle filaments. If the method according to the invention is used in cyclical operation, a series of openings of the carrier can be loaded in cycles and, after the openings of the carriers have been loaded, can be pushed forward by one division each.
- the openings of the carrier are closed by welding. This also causes the bristle bundles to be embedded and fastened.
- the opening of the carrier can be closed by gluing, in particular using adhesive tape.
- a plastic plate (perforated plate) or layer is advantageously used as the carrier.
- a plurality of plastic latts are preferably connected to one another to form an endless belt and / or welded. The strips produced in this way can then be welded together to the desired width and cut to the desired length and shape.
- the bristle bundles are arranged in a form-fitting manner and arranged in continuous openings in the carrier.
- bristle bundles are also arranged on the other side of the carrier.
- the bristle bundles are each arranged.
- the carrier is expediently flexible for some applications. It can then be placed on a base adapted to its shape.

- FIG. 5 is a schematic sectional view of the perforated plate of Fig. 4 with the hole welded on the underside and
- FIG. 6 shows a schematic view of a section of a perforated plate from below with the gradation and welded joint of the holes.
- the bristle filaments 2 are made of plastic. Possible plastic materials are polyamide, polyester and polypropylene. However, other materials can be used according to the respective requirements.
- the filament diameter, the number of filaments and the bundle length are selected as required.
- FIG. 2 shows the bristle filaments 2 of the bristle bundle 4 which are positively connected to one another in accordance with the invention.
- the bristle filaments 2 have been connected to one another by welding.
- the resulting junction ⁇ is approximately plate-shaped and very thin. Its diameter only protrudes a little from the bundle.
- a perforated plate 8 illustrated in FIG. 3 and used as a carrier is made of a suitable plastic, for example polypropylene. However, it can be made of a different material, possibly also, for example, wood, which is suitable for serving as a carrier for the bristle bundles and fulfills the later intended use.
- the hole plate 8 is provided with a number of through holes 10 which are provided for receiving bundles of bristles 4. If a bristle bundle 4 has reached the desired position during the insertion process, the perforated plate 8 is locally heated on the rear side around the hole 10, for example by welding, as a result of which material of the perforated plate liquefies, as illustrated at 12. The material flows and the hole is closed on the back by the liquefied plastic. At the same time, the filament ends of the bristle bundle 4 are embedded in this material and fastened therein.
- the bristle filaments 4 can be welded in advance or as a sub-step of the insertion process.
- the bristle filaments 4 can be inserted into the hole 10 in question from one or the other side of the perforated plate 8, depending on the circumstances.
- the bristle bundles can also be cut to length at an appropriate time.
- the holes 10 are provided with gradations or shoulders 14, against which the bristle bundles 4 with their connection points 6 come to rest.
- the hole diameter is thus smaller than on the underside.
- the holes 10 end in a protruding ring collar 16. The material defined in this way is intended for the welding and closing process of the holes 10 after the bristle bundles 4 have been inserted. It enables the perforated plate 8 to be made thinner in the remaining areas.
- FIG. 4 shows a perforated plate 8 with a stepped hole and an inserted bristle bundle. The hole on the back is not yet closed.
- Fig. 5 shows the perforated plate 8 of Fig. 4 after the welding and sealing process.
- the carrier or perforated plate is manufactured in a plastic injection mold and the individual plates are welded into an endless belt in a welding device. This tape is fed to an automatic placement machine and the rows of bristles are inserted in cycles.
- the bristle bundle material is drawn off endlessly on preassembled bobbins and a precisely defined number of filaments is drawn into and pulled through the perforated plate by a joining tool.
- the bristle filaments are welded into a bundle by a further welding tool and drawn into the perforated plate by means of a joining tool and there into a defined position.
- the Löcner is closed on the back of the perforated plate using an additional welding tool.
- the filaments which are still endless, are then cut to their desired length.
- the work cycle is completed and the perforated plate is pushed one division further.
