  • a known type of machine comprises a frame on which a number of parallel blades driven with reciprocating movement are mounted to cut the block of stone material into a number of slabs related to the number of blades simultaneously operated.
  • the blades are provided with diamond-set cutters whereas in the case of a granite block the blades are not diamond-set and operate with abrasive paste fed between them and the block to be cut. In this latter case the cutting of the block is a very slow operating and does not satisfy current production requirements.

These use one or more endless diamond-set wires supported by a frame and driven with continuous axial movement. This machine substantially increases the penetration rate, ie the speed with which the wire penetrates the block of stone material.   • the two lower shafts 8,8' purpose is to guide, as will be apparent hereinafter, the diamond-set wires 26 during their descent into the marble or granite block 12 to be cut into slabs, and which is positioned within the structure 2.
  • One of the two shafts namely the shaft 8 to the left on the drawing, is coupled by belts 14 to an electric motor 16, whereas the shaft 8' is mounted idly on its supports, which are themselves mounted on carriages 18 for moving the shaft 8' away from and towards the shaft 8.
  • Each of the pulleys 10 mounted on the shafts 8,8' comprises three recesses 20 in both its surface and arranged radially at 120° apart. These are provided to house corresponding spacers 22 which together with the recesses 20 are provided with passage holes for threaded rods 24 to enable all the pulleys 10 mounted on one and the same shaft 8,8' to be rigidly clamped together.
  • each pulley 10 comprises a circumferential groove which houses and guides a diamond-set wire 26, ie an endless wire of steel, glass fibre, carbon fibre or the like, on which diamond-set beads composed of a diamond matrix ring on a steel or other support core are threaded.

  • a plurality °f feelers is permanent contact with the wires and a plurality of inductive proximity sensors act together with a suitable detection system to immediately indicate any breakage or abnormal operation of a wire, to enable the machine to be halted and appropriate action be taken to restore correct operation conditions.

Abstract

L'invention concerne une machine qui permet le découpage multiple de blocs de pierre. Ladite machine comprend une structure d'appui et de guidage (2) conçue pour un outil à découpage multiple qui se déplace par rapport au bloc de pierre (12) à découper, et se caractérise par un outil à découpage multiple qui comporte: une paire d'arbres de support horizontaux (8, 8') destinée à recevoir une pluralité de poulies de guidage (10) disposées de façon qu'avec chaque poulie montée sur un des arbres, au moins une desdites poulies coplanaires soit motorisée; une paire de poulies de déviation (30, 32) associées à chaque paire de poulies de guidage (10) et disposées de manière à former deux séries de poulies juxtaposées, une poulie sur deux (32) étant associée à un tendeur (40); et une pluralité de fils déployés en losange (26) qui s'étendent sans fin sur deux poulies de guidage (10), une poulie de déviation (32) associée à un tendeur (40) et une poulie de déviation (30) non associée à un tendeur.
