Abstract

The present innovation concerns a writing instrument formed by a main body (1) containing a conventional ballpoint pen mechanism (4), provided in the upperpart with a reservoir (7) to store anticounterfeiting liquid which is closed by a cap (2) in which is attached a little brush (10). By means of a push pressure on the cap the point (5) of the pen advances and/or retracts, while the unscrewing of the cap permits the extraction of the little brush from the reservoir of anticounterfeiting liquid at the moment of use to apply and spread the forementioned liquid onto the important parts of the negotiable document (checks, bills and similar) amount payable in numbers and in letters, the addressee and the signature.

Description

DESCRIPTION
"WRITING INSTRUMENT PROVIDED WITH RESERVOIR- APPLICATOR CONTAINING ANTICOUNTERFEITING LIQUID"
This innovation concerns a writing instrument formed by a main body, in which is inserted a conventional ballpoint pen mechanism within wich is provided a reservoir closed by a cap with attached little brush to contain an anticounterfeiting liquid.
By means of a push pressure on the cap one obtains the advancement and the retraction of the ball-point pen, while the unscrewing of the can permits the extraction of the incorporated attached little brush. The little brush may be extracted at any moment to spread the anti-counterfeiting liquid on the characters of the document whether it be in figures or in letters, adressee and signature.
The present innovation concerns a writing instrument formed by an applicator-reservoir for anticounterfeiting liquid.
Recently, to the new technology used by counterfeiters, the possibility to resist the counterfeiting of negotiable documents, shares, bonds, checks, bills and the similar has gained more importance the possibility to resist alterations, in particular the signature, amount and or holder of the checks, bonds, shares or similar.
Till now to guard against counterfeiting, homemade remedies were used such as attaching transparent tape over the characters to be protected whether it be numbers or holders name.
These remedies have been demonstrated to be not totally efficient against the modern tecnology of counterfeiters.
The aim of the present innovation is to provide a writing instrument incorporating a reservoir and applicator for an anticounterfeiting liquid which is applicable onto the important parts of negotiable documents, including the signature, the amount payable in numbers and or letters and the adressee of the document.
The present innovation provides a writing instrument composed of a main body which contains a conventional ballpoint pen mechanism, and a reservoir to contain an articounterfeiting liquid mounted in the uppermost part which is applicable onto the important parts of negotiable documents and an extractable little brush incorporated in the cap of the resrvoir which can be used to apply the anticounterfeiting liquid onto the important parts of any document.
The anticounterfeiting liquid is a liquid capable of protecting the parts of the manuscript and or typewritten document as it penetrates into the fibers of the paper substrate of the negotiable document using for example, a liquid known as
"Secur Cheque", distributed and marketed by the
Italian Secur Trade Srl with a branch office in
Milan, Italy.
The present innovation to be described now refers to the attached illustrations which show a final design actually preferred.
Illustration :
-the figure 1 illustrates a frontal view of the writing instrument in the condition to write
-the figure 2 illustrates a lateral view of the writing instrument as shown in figure 1
-the figure 3 illustrates a cross-section seen in a plane A-A of figure 1
-the figure 4 illustrates a view of the writing instrument with the applicator apparaths in working condition.
In reference the illustrations, the writing instrument is composed of a main body 1 provided with a "cap" 2 movable in the direction of the arrow F to move the writing point into position, joined with a normal cl asp-cl i p 3. As seen in figure 3 which illustrates a cross section in plane A-A in figure 1. The body 1 is hollow and in the body a mechanism is screwed in 4 to advance and position and retract the writing point 5 assisted by a spring 6 and a spring release 5 well known. The working part of the mechanism 5 comes with a plunger incorporated 6 is composed of a reservoir 7 provided with a male thread 8 onto which is screwed the female threaded part 9 of the cap 2. In the cap 2 is attached a little brush as shown in its entirety in 10 which is provided with a ringseal 11 of a sten 12 and set of bristles 13.
The construction is such that if a pressure is applied to the cap 2 as indicated by the arrow F1 the mechanism 5 of the writing instrument is commanded. The operation of the whole is clearly illustrated in the figures. Pushing down on the cap 2 the ballpen point 5 is brought into an operating position as shown in the various illustrations and pushing down again on the cap brings the ballpen point back into the body as shown. When needed to apply the anticounterfeiting operation the cap 2 is unscrewed and the little brush 10 applies to the important areas of the document an anticounterfeiting liquid which provides a layer of protection to the manuscript and or typewritten letters or numbers as it penetrates down into the fibers of the paper and ink therefore rendering evident any sofisticated tentatives to counterfeit the document. The liquid contained in the reservoir 7 is preterably the anticounterfeiting liquid placed on the market under the name "Secur Cheque", Secur Trade, Milan, Italy. The exact composition of the anticounterfeiting liquid is not known, however it is exacting identifiable by the trade mark and name of the producer.
It is clear that other anticounterfeiting materials can be used as long as they meet the above mentioned characteristics of the liquid.
The reservoir 7, little brush 10 and the bristles 13 are all composed of material comptable with the anticounterfeiting liquid as described by an expert in material design.
The rest of the structure of the writing instrument will be produced with material commonly known to the writing intrument industry.
It is understood that the ink in the writing instrument has sinergistic action with the anticounterfeiting material.
In the preferred final design and represented in the illustrations the writing instrument is composed of a ballpoint pen. The insertion within the present innovation of her types of writing instruments for example a fine point pen, a marker in fiber or similar are all considered part of the present innovation.
The description of the present innovation not only refers to the preferred design as illustrated but intends to protect variations and equivalent structures in the observance of the laws and regulations of industrial models.
