WITNE SS; INVENTUFL UNITED STATES PATENT \VILLIAM B. \VEEDEN, OF PROVIDENCE, RHOUE l'SLANl ASSIUXOH TO THE \VEYBOSSET MILLS, 0F SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR FANCY CASSIMERES.
Specification forming part of Design No. 9,900, dated April 10, 1877; application filed March 2b, H77. [Term of Patent 7 yearsj To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM Ii. WEEDEN, of the city and county of Providence, and State of lthode lsland, have invented a new and useful Design for Fancy Uassimeres; and I do hereby declare that the following specification, taken in connection with the drawing making a part of the same, is a full, clear, and exact description thereot'.
The effect of my novel design will be apparent from an inspection oi the accompanying drawing, to which reference is made, said effect being produced by the combination and alternation of peculiarly woven and shaded longitudinal stripes, as lu-reinatter described.
The narrow stripe A is composed of a longitudinal line of corded weavingym, from which project, in a diagonal direction, short bars a, forming a stripe of peculiar character. These longitudinal stripes A divide the plainly-woven surface of the fabric into broad stripes B, which are shaded through their central portions b by line broken longitudinal lines a slight distance apart, the outer portion 1) of said stripe being more openly shaded by slightly heavier broken longitudinal lines, while the other outer portion I) is still more openly shaded by still heavier broken longi tudinal lines, giving to the general surface of VVlLL [AM P. W E EDEN.
