DESIGN FOR AN AX.

The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.

To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, EDWARDS Hum), of the county of Gharnpaign and State of Ohio, have invented a new and improved Design for a Chopping-Ax; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description thereof, reference being had to thethe handle. By thus balancing the weight on the handle, the ax is easier to chop with, especially in felling trees, and its motion is guided with greater facility.

The blade A is so formed that the lines a a a, of equal thickness, shall foi'rn curves, as represented in fig. 1, thereby locating the lineb b of greatesboonvexity in the'dircct-ion and position shown. This form of blade is found to chip better than any other known to me.

I claim as my invention-- The design for an ax, substantially as herein shown and described.
