OSCAR BARNETT, JR, OF NE\VARK, NEYV JERSEY, ASSIGNOR TO SARAII I5. EARNETT, OF SAME PLACE, EXECUTRIX OF OSCAR BARNETT, DECEASED.
DESIGN FOR A COPE OR DRAG FOR MOLDERS FLASKS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 30,196, dated February 14, 1899.
Application filed January 19, 1899. Serial No. 702,721. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, OSCAR BARNETT, J r., a citizen of the United States, residing at Newark, in the county of Essex and State of New Jersey, have invented a new and original Design for a Cope or a Drag for Molders Flasks; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
My invention relates to a new and useful design for the cope or the drag of a molders flask; and the design consists, essentially, in the several ornamental features to be hereinafter described and claimed, all of which will be fully understood by reference to the accompanying drawings, in which is illustrated an embodiment thereof.
Figure 1 represents a perspective view of the cope or the drag of a molders flask. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal vertical section of the same; and Fig. 3 is a cross-section of the flask, taken on line as in said Fig. 2.
Similar letters of reference are employed in all of the above-described views to indicate corresponding parts.
In said drawings, A indicates the cope or the drag of a molders flask, which is of a rectangular configuration, substantially as represented in Fig. 1 of the drawings, and has an open top and an open bottom. The longitudinal sides a and one end a of said body A taper from the top and bottom to a point near the middle of each side, thereby forming the angular outer surfaces a and a and the inner angular surfaces a and a The end a of the cope or drag is formed with a tapering surface a and parts a which are relieved by the alternating semicircular portions a and angular depressions a as clearly illustrated in Fig. 1. The inner angular surfaces a and a of the longitudinal sides a are ornamented with angularly-arranged ribs b and Z), which meet at the top and bottom, and thereby form a zigzag baud along the entire inner surfaces of the two longitudinal sides a, while the inner surfaces of the narrow sides or ends a are formed with a horizontal rib b, which is provided with the tapering edges Z). Each angular rib b and b is slightly curved, as at 12 and the sides 1/ of said ribs are made with a taper, substantially as illustrated in the several figures of the drawings.
The essential feature of my design is the general ornamentation of the rectangular cope or drag for a molders flask, the inner surfaces of the longitudinal sides having a zigzag arrangement of ribs which form an ornamental zigzag band, as herein set forth, and the inner surfaces of the short sides having a horizontal rib, substantially as shown.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is The design for a cope or a drag for a molders flask, substantially as herein shown and described.
In testimony that I claim the invention set forth above I have hereunto set my hand this 16th day of January, 1899.
OSCAR BARNETT, JR.
