Description

APR 191870 WILLIAM M. ARMSTRONG, OF MIDDLETOWN, OHIO.
Design. No. 3,974, dated April 19, 1870.
DESIGN FOR A BUGGY-BODY.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same To whom it may concern Be it known that I, WILLIAM M. AnMs'rRoNG, of Middletown, in Butler eounty, Ohio, have invented a new and useful Design or Pattern for Buggy-Bodies; and I do hereby deelare that the following is a full and exact description tlereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings and to tle letters of reference marked thereon.
Figure 1 of the drawings represents a rearelevation of my new design for buggy-bodies.
Figure 2 represents a side elevation of the same.
The object of my inrention is to provide a neat and comely shape or configuration for buggy-bodies, which shall present less side surface than heretofore, and be lighier in appearanee.
In the drawings the two Curves 1 and 2 are of nearly the same eonformation, and extend from one side of the body to the other, the eurre 1 being underneath the body, and the eurve 2 at the rear end thereof.
The side pattern A' is cut away in rear of the curve 1, as indicated by the dot-ted line 4.
The pattern A, with the two Curves 1 and 2, constitutes my new design.
The seat B may be shaped as represented in the drawings, or in any other manner to suit the builder.
A rear view of the body presents two graceful curves, 1 and 2, which are nearly alike in their formatiou and relations to tle body A.
The body will be so hung upon the runuing-gears that, in tin-nin g the vehicle around, the front Wheel will strike the body in 'ear of the curve 1, and consoquently a shorter turn may be made with the vehich than could have been done Without eutting away the portion indioated by the dotted line 4.
Having fully deseribed my inveution,
What I elaim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent as my new design for buggy-bodies, is-
The pattern A, as herein deseribed, and as represented in the accompanying drawings.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set m y hand this 10tl day of March, 1870.
WM. M. ARMSTRONG.
