UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
CELIA M. SMITH, OF ITHACA, NEW YORK.
DESIGN FOR A PATTERN FOR PRINTED FABRICS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 22,178, dated January 31, 1893.

To @ZZ whom it may concern;
Be it known that I, CELIA M. The design to be printed, painted or otherwise placed upon a fabric is represented in said drawings in which:
Figure lis a front View; and Fig. 2, is a rear view of the same. Y
My design for a pattern for aprinted fabric consists in the matter herein shown and described. The boy is shown with out-stretched arms l and with feet 2 spread apart and is represented as having on a close fitting cap and jacket, short trousers and top boots or leggins.
A cap band with jewel is represented at 3 and a jeweled belt at 4.
The lines 5, 6 and 7 denote respectively a j eweled neck band or collar and j eweled bands, and 8 denotes a fringe or band at the bottom of each trousers leg. The neck and waist bands ornamented with representations of jewels areapproximately parallel while the bands 6 and 7are obliquely disposed between them meeting in median lines at front and rear. In front the bands 7 touch the belt and in tho reverse they meet at angles at a point above the belt.
9 denotes slashes and filling in the coat sleeves.
The various garments and the hands, face, hair and other parts may have appropriate colors and the whole is designed to suitably represent a Columbian sailor hoy. The entire contour of the representation in each figure is surrounded by a broken line situated near and everywhere approximately parallel thereto.
Vhat I claim is:
The design for a pattern for printed fabrics herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
CELIA M. SMITH.
