(Application filed Oct; 26, 1898.).
W/TNESSJES VENTOH UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
DAVID F. VAUGHAN, OF HADDONFIELD, NEV JERSEY.
DESIGN FOR A MEMBER OF RAlL-BENDING IMPLEMENTS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 29,742, dated November 29, 1898.
Application filed October 26, 1898. Serial No. 694,635. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern: Be it known that I, DAVID F. VAUGHAN, citizen of the United States, residing at Haddonfield, in the county of Camden and State of New Jersey, have invented a certain new and original Design for a Member of a Rail- Bending Implement, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, of
which Figure 1 is a plan view; Fig. 2, a side elevation; Fig. 3, a section on line 8 3, Fig. 1; Fig. 4, a front end elevation.
The leading feature of my design consists of a bar one end of which is swollen out to form a cylindrical head or boss with a circular opening therethrough, and the other end has a projection with a longitudinal groove therein, and between the ends of the bar and on one side is a lateral extension that projects beyond the edge of the bar and has an inturned lip that overhangs the aforesaid grooved projection.
Referring to the accompanying drawings, 1 designates the bar, which is made with a marginal rib 2 on each side.
3 is a cylindrical head or boss formed by an expansion of that end of the bar, which boss has a circular opening4 therein. 5 is a projection on the edge of the other or front end of the bar and having a longitudinal groove 6.
7 is a lateral extension on one side of the bar, extending some distance beyond the edge of the bar and beyond the line of the projection 5. Said extension 7 is bent inwardly at its free end to form a lip 8, which overhangs the projection 5, as seen in Fig. l.
The parts of the ribs 2 adjacent to the extension 7 are widened out, as seen in Fig. 1.
I claim The design for a member of a rail-bending implement, substantiallyas herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto affixed my signature this 18th day of October, A. D. 1898.
DAVID F. VAUGHAN.
