DESIGN FOR A WRITING-TABLE CABINET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 28,262, dated February 8, 1898.
Application filed December 31, 1897. Serial Nu. 665,239. Term of patent 3% years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JAMES L. KERSTETTER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Bradford, in the county of )IeKean and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and original Design for a Combination \Vriting- Table Cabinet, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a new and original design for a combination writing-table cabinet; and it has for its object to provide a design of this character that shall be both useful and ornamental.
The leading feature of the design resides in an upright cabinet-body having narrow forwardly-convergent side walls meeting the side edges of the front wall in an obtuse angle, said front wall being provided at a point near its lower end with a forwardly-projected horizontal pen-rack shelf-piece and a flat rectangular base-piece arranged at the lower end of the cabinet-body and having its end portions projected beyond the side walls of said body.
A minor feature of the design is to provide the front and side walls of the cabinet-body with plain rectangular panels and to arrange at the top edges of the cabinet-body scrolled edging-strips and a pair of short post-like ornaments, said post-like ornaments being provided with rounded top portions and arranged in line with the meeting-points between the front and side walls of the cabinetbody.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of a writing-table cabinet embodying the herein-described design. Fig. 2 is a front elevation thereof.
Referring to the accompanying drawings, the numeral 1 designates an upright cabinetbody having narrow forwardly-convergent 'while the vertical front wall of the cabinet is provided with separate rectangular panels 3 and 4, respectively, of different sizes. Immediately below the plain larger panel 3 of the front wall of the cabinet-body said front wall is further provided with a forwardlyprojecting horizontal pen-rack shelf-piece 5, having sigmoidally-curved end edges 0 and a longitudinal concavity 7 in its upper side.
The upright cabinet-body 1 is surmounted at its top edges by scrolled edging-strips 8 and a pair of short post-like ornaments 9, arranged in line with the meeting-points between the front and side walls of the cabinetbody and provided with rounded top portions 10.
The upright cabinet-body 1 is arranged on top of a flat rectangular base-piece 11, which is provided with beveled or molded edges 12 and has its end portions project beyond the plane of the narrow side walls of the cabinetbody. The projecting end portions of the flat base-piece 11 are provided in their upper faces with surface ink-well depressions or concavities 13.
What I claim is The design for a writing-table cabinet, herein shown and described.
