Description

DESIGN. W. H. PERRY.
MUNUMENT.
No. 23,457. Patented July 10, 1894.
i l v. t/ .1674..
UNITED rSTATES PATENT OFFICE.y
WILLIAM H. PERRY, OF CONCORD, NEW HAMPSHIRE.
DESIGN FOR A MONUMENT.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, WILLIAM H. PERRY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Concord, in the county of Merrimac and State of New Hampshire, have invented and produced a new and originalDesign for a Monument, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing.
This design relates more particularly to the configuration of the forms of ornamentation of said shaft, the pedestal, and the base, also the character of nish for the difterent parts which will be fully set forth in the following specification and claim and clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawing, to which reference will be made by means of figures and letters.
The base 1, is oblong, and has four vertical sides which terminate in an obtuse frustum of a pyramid 2. The pedestal 3, has also an oblong form and four vertical sides terminating in an acute frustnm of a pyramid 4, one or more sides of which may have a raised tablet 5, as shown.
The oblong shaft has four vertical sides 6, ornamented at bottom and top by the raised tablets respectively 7,-8, their upper and lower edges respectively being beveled as at 910. The shaft is further ornamented with the tablets 11 and 12, on one or both its longer sides, and with the tablets 13, on its shorter shaft, and the several sides or ends, all of which are of the contiguration shown by a heavy border line, and further distinguishable by a iinish of a dierent character.
Thevarious styles of finish are also a feature of my design, and are designated by letters of reference-A, representing rock work, B, hammered work, and O, polished work.
The upper edge of the tablet 8, is curvilinear as shown at 14, and leaves the depressed surfaces 15, terminating at their top in the frustum of a pyramid 16, upon the top of which is a iat block, square or nearly square at its top, and somewhat wider than said frustum 16, so that two of its sides 17, and portions of its ends 18, project downward upon the longer sides of said frustum 16. The central portion of each edge of said block is beveled ot, as at 19, and all corners of said block are finished with a draft line 20.
Having described my new design, what I claim is- The design for a monument substantially as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
WILLIAM H. PERRY.
