UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
AUGUST ST. GEORGE, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS, ASSIGNOR TO GEORGE BENZ d: SONS, OF ST. PAUL, MINNESOTA.
DESIGN FOR A BOTTLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 27,884, dated November 23, 1897.
A li ti fil d October 15, 1897. Serial No. 655,353. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may. concern.-
Be it known that I, AUGUST ST. GEORGE, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Chicago, Cook county, Illinois, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Bottles, of which the following is a specification, reference being bad to the accompanying drawings, formingapart thereof.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is an elevation IQ of one side of a bottle, showing my new design; Fig. 2, a detail elevation of one corner of the bottle, and Fig. 3 a plan view of the same.
As shown in the drawings, a bottle made in r 5 accordance with my design consists of a body portion A, which'is approximately one and one-third times as long as its greatest breadth. This body portion has a convex top A and rounded bottom edges, as shown at A the corners A being chamfered, as shown, and each provided with a rib A extending to the bottom of the bottle. The sides of the body portion are paneled, as illustrated at A The neck 13 is provided at its connection with the body portion with a molding l3, and at its upper end has an enlargement B in the form of a conical frustum. The body portion is ornamented in relief with conventional patterns, as shown, while the panels may be plain. The ornamentation shown on the body 0 portion is particularly characterized by the fact that the upper end of each chamfered corner meets a conventional shell pattern A while intermediate the sides of the body portion and above and below the panels are placed conventional lilies. The remaining ornamentation is in the nature of scrolls or conventional vines and leaves. Around each panel the background is corrugated, as shown at A. The top of the body portion has a series of elliptical ornaments A arranged in a circle concentric with the bottle-neck and outside the molding ll.
Having described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to seen re by Letters Patent, is-
The design for a bottle as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
AUGUST ST. GEORGE.
