SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 26,751, dated March 9, 1897.

Application filed September 29, 1896. Serial No. 607,874. Term of patent 7 years.

Be it known that I, HERMAN IHLENBURG, a citizen of the United States, residingin Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, have invented a certain new and useful Design for a Font of Type, of which the following is a specification.

My design for a font of type is clearly illustrated in the accompanying typographical impression, which illustrates the entire font and also the type set up in form. v

The essential feature of the design is that the serifs are dispensed with on the ends of the letters and the letters are thickened and rounded in place thereof, so that they can be placed very close together without being unreadable.

The light lines of the majority of the letters terminate in a rounded enlargement at their ends, and this is especially so in the letters A, M, N, U, V, V, X, and Y of the upper case.

The cross line of the letter f of the lower case does not run through the upper stroke, but is only seen on the right side. The upper part of the letter g is Very small and the lower end is open. The right stroke of the letters h, 111, and n is inclined, and the letters S and s are extra narrow cut, the whole giving the peculiar effect illustrated in the accompanyin g typographical impression.
