TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that I, JAMES P. BAXTER, of Portland, in the county of Cumberland, and State of Maine, have originated, designed, and invented a new Design for a Trade Mark; and I hereby declare the following to he a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being bad to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in which is shown a label or tag engraved in the manner in which I propose to employ the same.
I desire to obtain Letters Patent for a trade mark, to be engraved upon a tag or label, said tag or label to be glued or otherwise attached to cans which shall contain green corn, in that condition described as preserved green corn, which, as is well known, is put up in hermetically sealed cans or jars. This mark or designation describes a particular kind of this article, and is intended to be attached to cans orjars containing this kind of the article.
I will now describe the trade mark in the manner in which I propose to use the same. Across the top of the label or along its upper side are engraved the words Gorhaln Green Corn," upon a horizontal line. Down the ends of the tag or label, in a vertical line, and the letters at right angles to those before described, are engraved the same words. At the bottom of the tag or label are seen the same words as at the top thereof, and similarly arranged. Diagonal"; across the face of the tag or label are seen also the same words. Across the face of the tag or label are the same words as above set forth, so arranged as to form a curve. These are intended to ex tend from left to right of the tag.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for the trade mark herein set forth and shown.
