Term of patent 14 years.
To (17/ when: it mi/11 r'rmr'crn:
Be it known that l. Mnnnrr'r GALLY, residing at New York city, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented a eertai it new and original l esign for a (Jase for Musical Instruments or \laiitcl-Orchestrones, of which the lollowing is a specification, ref- (-l'ent'e being had therein to the accompanying photopraph.
My design consists, primarily. in the form, and, rstft'ulltltllliy, in the ornamentation, ot' the ease for a musical instrument, especially an instrument of the eharaeter known as an orehestrone "o1."automaticorgan, \vherebythe instrument becomes a pleasing mantel ornament, and may also serve as an ornamental clerk-ease.
in the photographie representation of my design, the numeral ,1. indicates the body or base of the casing. which is rectangular in general outline and in face view, the ends being perpendieular, and its greatest length in horizontal direction when the instrument is in position for use. The upper and lower corners ol'this box or easing are surrounded by moldings. as at 3 and S. The face ot'casingl is ornamented by raised earrings or panels, and in the central portion of more expensive eases [place a clock, as shown at the dial 4. In some of the cheaper cases this dial may be omitted, and its place supplied by a carving or medallion of the same size. The size of the casing is such that it is adapted to rest on a mantel or sheltof usual size. Projecting centrally above the casing 1 is the casing 5, also rectangular in front view, and less in length than the casing 1. The front of easing 5 is ornamentedas by pillars 6 6 in low relief and a molding, 7, passes along the front and ends of said casing. At the ends of the cars ing 5 I place ornamental brackets or scrollpiecesSS, the same extending toward the ends of easing 1. On top of the central casing, 5, I mount asmall statuette, 9, which, by prefcrencc, should be the statuettc of some prominent musical composer.
By this design I produce a casing for a musical instrument which forms a most pleasing mantel ornament, and, as has been stated, the same may form a highly-ornamental casing for a mantel-clock.
\Vhat I claim as new and of my design isl. The design for shape or configuration ot' a case for a mantel musical instrument, consisting of a body or base having a rectangular face, its greatest length in horizontal direction, and a rectangular central protection of less length sun-mounting the same, substantially as shown.
2. The design for mantel ornament. and 11111- sical-instrument ease, consisting of a base presenting a rectangular face having its greatest length in horizontal direction, and a central dial, and central rectangular projection above said dial, as shown.
3. The design for case for 1nantel-organs, consisting of a base having rectangular lace longest in horizontal direction, having bottom and top molding, and central rectangular projeetion surmounting the same and having top molding, substantially as shown.
4. The design for mantel ornament and eas ing for musical instrument, consisting of a base having rectangular face in horizontal direction, a rectangular easing of less length surmounting the same, and ornamental pieces 8 S at each end thereof, substantially as shown.
5. The design for mantel ornament and case for musical instrument, consisting of a base having rectangular face longest in horizontal direction, a rectangular projection surmounting the same, and astatuette surmonnting said projection.
