Specification of Letters Patent.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, BEDFORD TUCKER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Bernie, in the county of Stoddard and State of Missouri, have invented new and useful Improvements in Bunk-Dogs, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to log dogs and particularly to that type which are adapted for use on wagon bunks.

The object of the invention is the provision of a simple and efficient dog which may be adjusted to any sized log or to any position upon the bunk so that the log may be properly held therein and in such position as to secure equal balance on the wagon.

Further objects of the invention will appear as the following specific description is read in connection with the accompanying drawing which forms a part of this application, and in which:

Referring more particularly to the drawing 1 represents the bolster of the wagon which is mounted upon the axle 2 supported by the usual wheels 3.

Mounted upon the bolster 1 is the log bunk i to the side of which is secured a spaced rod or bar 5 upon which is slidably mounted the dog bearings 6 having the communicating slots 7 and 8, the former of which extend longitudinally of the bearings and the latter of which extend vertically of the bearings.

The slots 7 of the bearings receive the bar 5 and the slots 8 of the bearings receive the dogs 9 which will have the log engaging prongs 10 extending laterally from their upper ends. Threaded into the face of the bearings are suitable clamping bolts 11 having levers 12 on their outer ends to manipulate the same whereby their inner ends may be forced into engagement with the outer face of the bar, thus clamping the bearings upon the bar in adjusted position and holding the dogs in adjusted vertical position. By loosening the screw the bearings may be adjusted laterally upon the bar 5 and the dogs may be moved vertically within the bearings so as to accommodate themselves to different sized logs and to position the log at any suitable point upon the bunk.

Having thus described the invention, What is claimed is In a wagon, the combination with wagon bunks of bars secured to said bunks and extending from end to end thereof, said bars being spaced upon the bunks, slotted bearings mounted upon the bars, log dogs slidably mounted in the bearings at right angles to the bars and having log engaging prongs, and means carried by the bearings for clamping the same upon the bars, and holding the dogs in adjusted position.
