To all whom 'it may concernI Be in known that I, wrman n. elem, of Birmingham, in the county of New Haven, and State of Connecticnt have invented a new Improvement in Mzutingale-Rings; and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accentua:

Fgnre 1, a, front view, and in Figure 2, a transverse section, on lino x x. This invention relates to an improvement in martingale-rings, the object being the production of a' strong ring, neat in its appearance, and at a small cost; and consists in forming a ring from wood, or

other cheap material, to give form and shape to the ring, then applying to such ring a flat ring ot' sheetnxetal, the width of the ring of metal being but little In order to the, clear understanding of my invention, I will fully describe the same, tts-illustrated in the accompanying drawings.

A is a ring, formed from wood, leather, or other suitable material. l

B isa ringof shcet -metal, formed so that the ,internal diameter will be less. than that of the principal ring, and the outer diameter greater than that of the principal ring. Then', in av common spinning-apparatus, I turn the metal down .over the wood, so that it will cover one side of both edges, as seen in g.-4 2,

exposing the other side.

This construction produces a very strong ring, and l one extremely cheap and light, inasmuch as the material of the body of the ring, which is employed to give .an apparent solidity to the ring, is of very little cost; and the metal may be very light, and stilly possess all the strength requisite for martingale-rings.
