' by declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others to make and use my invention, reference being had to the ac companying drawings, forming part ot' this specification, in which- Figure 1 shows a. top View ofthe bed-bottom.

Upon the ends :l are set the wooden rods e, secured by metal clamps, 71.

' Around the rods are coiled the springs j, as seen in the drawings, the ends of such springs being driven or set intothe wood ot' d.

These springs are fitted with hooks at the free end of the wire, to enter the holes in the exible connections A'.

The rods a pass under the ends of the slats b, and also unite by means ofhooks on their ends, with the exible connections A. (Seetig. 2.)

The rods a are connected with the slats b, in either ofthe foilowing methods, viz, as at C, where they are fitted into recesses as there shown, or as at D, where a small stud has a projecting head to receive the rods. Another method is, as shown at B, where the stud B slips through the slat so as to -make the slat re# rersible, that'is so that the rods a can be attached to either end of B, the end which is downward always dropping down as far as the button on the upper end will allow it,`as seen at Bin the drawings.

Theslat, as seen at D, is also reversible, but the pin or bolt therein is fixed, and does not drop as at B.

I do not claim the arrangement of the slet-spring and strap, as shown in J. L. Whipples patent, October 25, 1859, and numbered 25,924. Neither do I claim in combinationwith the bed-Slat a wire-spring having two parallel coils at the base, and two at the top, the v one turning adversely to the other. -Neither do I claim a hook o r hinge in combination with the two adverse springs. Neither do I claim a combination ot' a cross-bar, rod, pin, and sl'at with these two springs, as shown in I. Barnes patent, July 17, 1866, No.

Neither do I claim a spring bed-bottom com-A posed of a series of wooden slats, connected near their ends by strips having wire-springs attached to the head and foot-pieces otthe frame, and connected to they strips centrally between the slats, as in HQ H.
