.This invention relates to improvements in gun-can riages, and apparatus for training the some, designed to provide an arrangement whereby the gun may foe trained to any desired direction more readily than can be .done by the means at present' in use.

The inventionA consists in a carriage swivelled at each end upon supports, arranged in ways or on trncks crossing each other al; right angles, in such a manner that as the said supports are moved forward or'bacl; in their respective ways, the gun may be turned to axy required direction, as hereinafter more fully spe ci ed.

By this arrangement, when one end of the carriage ie moved away from .the centre of the foundation, the other end will be brought towards it, but from n direc tion at right angles to that in which the receding ond moves. lhc movement oi .the receding enel will he arrested when the other arrives at the centre; sind if the latter he moved across the centre, and away from it in the opposite direction, that end which was recedl ing will be brought back tovrarde the centre.

This motion changes the direction of' the gun, and may be continued, to cause the gun io point in all directions horizontally, ns will bc readily understood,

,and furnishes a very simple means for tminingheavy guns, whether on shipboard or in fortifications.

Any preferred form or arrangement of the enpports may he employed.L
