Bef-it;known that I, MICHAEL MEADE, of Boston,

i Ain thecounty of Suffolk, and State of Massachusetts, p have invented certain new and, useful Improvements in the Method of Graduating Extension-Patterns for f YBoots and Shoes; and I do hereby declare that the l following is a Vfull land exact description thereof, reference beingliad to the `accompanying drawing, and to the letters of ,reference4 marked thereon.

, The nature of my invention consist in' applying im l "n proved graduating scales to boots` and shoes.

t To enable others skilled in the art to make and use myiinvention, I will proceed to describe its construcl1 `tion and use.

The drawing represents in plan `an extension-path tern, which consists of two parts, A3 B and O D, which are `connected together by means of the set-,screws and w washers, K K and W W5 the part B being provided with elongated slots S and S,`,to admit of adjustment.

H `is a scale, which represents, in inches and fractions', the distance around the heel of the foot.

E is a scale, which represents, m inches and fractions, they distance around Vthe instep.

I am well aware that extension-patterns, with the` size-grading marked upon them, have been used be' fore, but I believe that, my system is entirely new. v

Having thus described my invention, I will proceed to set forth my claim.
