NICHOLAS H. PRILEY, OF DULUTH, MINNESOTA.
BOX-LID SUPPORT.
Application filed May 3, 1907.
To all whom it may concern: I
Be it known that I, NIoHoLAs H. PRILEY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Duluth, in the county of St. Louis and State of Minnesota, have invented certain new and l useful Improvements, in Box-Lid Supports, of which the following is a specification, ref erence being had therein to the accompanyi ing drawing.
My invention relates to improvements in box lid su ports, and pertains more particu larly to t at class used in connection with cigar boxes.
The object of my invention is to provide a device of this character that can be applied to the box and perform its function with the least possible amount of disfigurement and clumsy effect to the box.
Another object of my invention is to provide a device of this character which is of the simplest construction, and one requiring a minimum amount of material, thus producing a more simple, cheap and effective support.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1, is an interior perspective view of a cigar box partly broken away, showing the support ap plied. Fig. 2, is a rear view of Fig. 1, and Fig. 3, is an enlarged side' elevation of the improved support.
Referring now to the drawings, 1 represents a piece of wire or like material, having its upper end bent at'right angles, as indicated at 2, forming the horizontal portion 3 which is bent around, as at 4, and extended back as at 5, parallel with the portion 3, thus box lid is forced, and firmly clamped. The vertical portion or piece of wire 1 is bent at its lower end and provided with the upwardly extending oblique portion 6 forming an acute angle, and which has its upper end bent into a short horizontal loop 7, and the wire is continued downwardly into a vertical ortion 8. As shown, the entire support is mac e of a single piece of wire or metal, thus making the manufacture thereof very cheap, and by the specific means of arranging the several loops, a support to accomplish the desired results, is formed of much less material, thus'lessening the cost of the article.
In application, the lid of the box is forced Specification of Letters Patent.

Serial No. 371,630.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. A box lid support consisting of a wire having a single lateral loop at its upper end for engagement with the lid of the box, an angularly-disposed loop at the lower end for engagement with the body of the box, and an offset portion for resting upon the edge of the end of the box.
2. A box lid support consisting of a vertical wire having a single laterally-disposed loop at its upper end for engaging the lid of the box, and at its lower end an upwardlyextending oblique portion having a horizontal loop terminating in a downwardlyextending vertical portion.
3. A box lid support, comprising a vertical wire having a single laterally-disposed loop at its upper end for engaging thelid of the box, and its lower end bent upwardly at an acute angle and having a horizontal small loop formed therein, and the wire terminating in a downwardly-extending vertical portion.
4. A box lid support, comprising a vertical wire having a single laterally-disposed loop at its upper end for engaging the lid of the box, and its lower end bent upwardly at an acute angle and having a horizontal small loop formed therein, and its outer end in a vertical line with the outer end of the laterally-disposed loop and the wire terminating in a downwardly-extending vertical portion.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
NICHOLAS H. PRILEY.
