Description

No. 862,909. PATENTED AUG.13, 1907.
' E. B. HBLMAN.
RECEIVER HOLDER FOR TELEPHONBS. APPLICATION FILED MAY 2. 1907.
WITNESSES: [NVENTOR Jay? 215mg; flvmm 1n: NnRRls psrzns ca, WASHINGTON, n. c.
EZRA B. HELMAN, OF INDIANA, PENNSYLVANIA.
- RECEIVER-HOLDER FOR TELEPHONES.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Aug. 13, 1907.
Application filed May 2, 1907. Serial No. 371,379.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EZRA B. HELMAN, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Indiana, in the county of Indiana and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Receiver-Holders for Telephones, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.
This invention relates to a receiver holder for telephones, and the invention has for its primary object to provide a simple and inexpensive holder for supporting a receiver in a position convenient to a person using a telephone, whereby the persons hands will be free for performing some other duty than holding the telephone receiver. To this end, I have devised a bracket adapted to be secured to a telephone or to a wall adjacent to a telephone, the bracket being provided with a plurality of supports for holding a pivoted arm in any desired elevation. Connecting with the pivoted arm are a plurality of hinged arms carrying the receiver holder, which comprises resilient clips adapted to embrace the receiver of a telephone.
The detail construction entering into my invention will be hereinafter more fully described and then speciiically pointed out in the claims, and reference will now be had to the drawing forming part of this specification wherein I have illustrated a perspective view of my receiver holder.
The telephone receiver holder consists of a triangularshaped bracket 1 adapted to be secured to a telephone or suitable support by screws 2 or similar fastening means. The vertical arm 3 of the bracket is provided with a plurality of equally spaced hooks or supports 4, for an arm 5 pivotally connected to the bracket 1, as at 6.
Hinged to the arm 5, as at 7, are a plurality of folding arms 8, said arms being hinged together, as at 9. One of the arms is provided with a hinged extension 10 carrying resilient clips 11 adapted to embrace the receiver of a telephone, said hinged extension 10 constituting a support for the receiver.
The pivoted arm 5 can be adjusted to hold the folding arms at any desired elevation, while said arms can be manipulated to correctly position a receiver placed in the resilient clips 11.
The receiver holder is preferably constructed of light and durable metal and finished to harmonize with the metallic fittings of a telephone.
Such changes in the details of construction, as are permissible by the appended claims, in order to adapt my holder to various types of telephones, may be resorted to' without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention.
What I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:-
1. A telephone receiver holder consisting of a bracket, an adjustable arm pivoted thereto, folding arms hinged to said pivoted arm, an extension hinged to said folding arms, resilient clips carried by said extension, and a plurality of forwardly projecting supports carried by said bracket to" said adjustable arm.
2. A telephone receiver comprising a vertically-disposed bracket, an adjustable arm pivoted to one side of said bracket and extending past the opposite side thereof, a plurality of forwardly projectingsupports carried by the said opposite side of the bracket for the said adjustable arm, folding arms hinged to said adjustable arm, an extension having one end hinged to the outer arm of said folding arm. and resilient clips carried by said extension.
In testimony whereof I afljx my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
EZRA B. HELMAN.
