B e it known that l, WILLiAM A. MILLS, a citizen of the United Sjates, residing at Portv Chester, in the de unty oft-Westchester and Stateof New York, have i invented an Improvement'in Gas-Ranges, of which theffollowing is a specification.
In gas ranges it is desirable to View the'fburners and to be able to light thesame from the front of the rangebe'cause it isalways necessary to exercise-great care .l-4 -in the use of .gas ranges to avoidan explosion of a lmixture of gas and air, especially' in the oven. It will be apparent from Fig. '2, that each llame conveyer is made with downward and upward projections* the lower of which rests' upon the in-turned edge of thel division plate and the upper of which-comes beneath the oven 'bottom assisting in supporting the same.

"In a`gasrange, the combination with the oven, the oven doorfandoven bottom and a burner in a chamber beneath 'the latter, of a horizontal division plateat the front spaced apart from the oven bottom so that the upl per edge of said plate stops 'at an appreciablevdistance below the oven bottom so as to leave a longitudinal opening between said upper edge and the oven bottom extending the entire length of the oven and through which the burners can be viewed, und means extending forward from the burner into the longitudinal opening und by which thel burner can be lighted. g

In a gasrange, the combination with the oven botvr 'tom and thefdoor of the broillng chamber, of a horizontal division plate at the front, the lower edge of which is provided with a ledge and under-laps the upper edge of the broiling chamber door and the upper edge of which stops at an appreciable distance below the oven bottom so as to-leave a longitudinal opening between sold upper edge and the'oven bottom through which the burners can be viewed and a flame conveyer extending from the burners i forward toward the said longitudinal opening und constructed at its orifice with a part extending down and resting upon the ledge of the said front division plate and its upper part extending up to the under side of the oven bottom as a support, the lighting orifice of the said llame spreader being in the said horizontal mening.
5. In a gas range, the combination with the oven. the oven door and oven bottom, und a burner in a chamber beneath the latter, of'a horizontal division plate at the front spaced apart from the oven bottom so that the upper edge of snidpiate stops at an appreciable distance below the oven bottom so as to leave n longitudinal opening bctween said upper edge and the oven bottom extending the entire length of the oven and through which the burners can be wiiewed. the lower edge of the oven door extending .over the said longitudinal opening and'having a longtudinally extendingr projection or plate 7 closing over the said, openingand also cuttingr off communication between said opening and the oven when the door is shut.
