COMBINED CURTAIN-POLE, BRACKET, AND WINDOW-SHADE HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented April 3, 1906.
Application filed December 17,1904. Renewed N vemb r 28, 1905 Serial No- 2 ,4 5-
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it knownthat I, JOHN HENRY SEEeERs, a citizen of the United States, residing at Sharon, in the county of Mercer and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in a Combined Curtain-Pole, Bracket, and Window-Shade Holder; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to an improved combined curtain-pole, bracket, and window-shade holder; and it consists in the certain details of construction and combination of parts, as will be fully described hereinafter.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a front elevation of my improved curtainpole, bracket, and shade-holder, the same be ing constructed and arranged in accordance with my invention. Fig. 2 is an end elevation of the same.
To put my invention into practice, I form from a strip of sheet metal 1 the curtain-pole holder, which consists of a straight portion 1 bent downwardly at the front to form a ring 10, having an open base 11, and at the rear end with a downwardly-bent hook 2, adapted to be forced back of the head-block of the window-frame 3, which, to ether with a nail 4, having an enlarged head and short wedge 5, serves as a means for securely attaching the holder in position, as shown at Fig. 2 of the drawings. Arranged within the rings 10 of two of such holders, above described, is the curtain-pole, which consists of a thin metallic tube 12 of a suitable length fitted at each end with caps 17 by means of sockets 16, the said pole 12 having an opening 13 at the base which extends the entire length of the same. Placed within this pole 12 is another, 1 1, of less diameter and divided longitudinally in two equal sections, between which the curtains 18 are placed and the two sections held together by means of a number of transverse pins 15.
The window-shade bracket consists of depending arms 7, attached to the holder 1 by slides 6 and capable of being moved along the length of the straight portion 1 of the holder or toward and away from the window, and the lower ends of the arms 7, formed with hooks 8 to engage with the bearings of the window-shade 9.
It will be seen from the above description that a cheap, durable, and efiicient means is provided for mounting both the curtains and window-shade.
The holder 1 may be readily removed by withdrawing the wedge 5 from the pins or nails 1, the caps 17 may be disengaged from the poles to insert or remove the inner poles 14 when attaching the curtains thereto, and that the Window-shade may be extended toward or away from the window.
Various slight modifications and changes may be made in the details of construction Without departing from the spirit of the invention. Therefore I do not wish to confine myself to those shown and described.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The herein-described combination curtainpole, bracket and window-shade holder, comprising the bracket having a straight portion 1, an open ring 10 at one end, a means for attachment with the window-frame 3 consisting of the downwardly-bent portion 2 and nail 4 the head of which is formed with an opening in which a wedge 5 is placed, the metallic pole 12 open along the base and fitted with removable end caps 17 supported in said rings 10, the inner sectional pole 14 adapted to receive and hold the curtains and means for holdin said sections together, and the window-shade brackets 7 slidably connected to curtain pole bracket 1 having means 8 for engagement with the bearings of the window-shade, all arranged and combined for service, substantially as and for the purpose described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
JOHN HENRY SEEGERS.
