srncmxca'non forming part of Letters Patent No. 781,181, ma January 31', 1906.
Application filed m 26, 1904'. Serial Nozoasva.
To all whom, it may concern:
Be it known that 1, WILLIAM KING BRACK- ETT, acitizen'of the United States, residing at Alameda, county of Alameda, State of California, have invented certain new'and useful Improvements in Disinfectant-Holders for Mouthpieces; and I do hereby declare the following to be a-full. clear, and exact description of the same.
My invention relates to the general class of disinfectingap pliances, and particularly to devices in which a suitable disinfectant is inclosed in a perforated box or cage.
The object of my inventionis to provide simple, economical, and effective means for applying a disinfectant to the mputhpieces of speaking-tubes, telephone-transmitters, and
other instruments in Which'mouthp'ieces are used;
To this end my invention consists in the novel construction of :the disinfectantholder,
which I shall hereinafter fully describe.
Referring to the.- accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of my device.
Fig. 2 is a front view, partly broken, showing the application of my holder to'a mouthpiece.
Fig. 3 is a side View, partly broken, of same.
A is a perforated ease or cage of any suitable construction and form. I have here shown it as a two-part hollow sphere, the sections slipping the one over the other, whereby they may be readily taken apart and put together. This cage isto be supplied with any suitable disinfectant and, as is seen in Fig. 3, is to be suspended within the cavity of the mouthpiece B. The mouthpiece may belong to any instrument in which such partis' used-such, for example, aswepeaking-tube or a transmitter of a telephone-and the cage A may be suspended therein-in any suitable manner. As best adapted for this purpose I have a hook-clamp C,
formed of a piece of metal bent upon itself and adapted to embrace the edge of the mouthpiece, its lower arm extending backwardly into the mouthpiece, as seen in Fig. 3, and having on its extremity a small hook c, from which 'ed to embrace the edge of the mouthpiece, its
mouthpiece.
" the ca 3c is suspended, flhishookwlam'p may beheld in position many suitable manner, as
by fitting tightly the edge of the mouthpiece; but in the best form of the device I have the upper arm of said hook-clamp prolonged back.-
wardly and joined to a clamp-ringD, which, as shown in Fig. 2, is adapted to embrace'the neck of the mouthpiece, its m'eetingend sd being secured together by any suitable fastening or look. For illustration I have here shown a simple slip-ring (Z'. By means of this clamp-ring the whole deviceis held well a in place, with no danger of being accidentally displaced and with little liability of being stolen. At the same time it can 'be readily fitted to place without marring or injuring the mouthpiece, and it can be easily removed when required. It can be madeas ornamental and attractive as desired, and the contents of the cage can be perfumed to taste.
Having thus described my inyentioziiwhat I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters- Patent. isr v 1. A disinfectant-holder for mouthpieces comprising a cage to contain the disinfectant,- a hook-clamp embracing the edge of the mouthpiece, its lower arm extending into the cavity of said mouthpiece and carryingthe cage, and a clamp-ring to which the upper arm of the hook clamp is secured, said clamp-ring em:-
