Be it known that I ABRAHAM S. MILLER, of Blull'ton, in tllecountyof Wells, and State of Indiana, have invented a. new and useful Machine for S cntching Flax, entitlerl AnImproved Flex-Scutehem and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the constru ction anil operation of the same, reference being had to the enclosed drawings. r
My invention consis ts of fonrobtuse-angled knives, 0, attached to arms on shaft; Aydriven by belt on pulley B, the broken fiaxbeing fed upon upright knife at C, and passing oli'ut E. The base of the upright, D, is made'to vibrate upon journals 1 and 2, so as to accominodete itself to large or small quantities, the upright being governed and held in place by the spring at F.\
