Be it known that LCLIFFOED L. CHRISTIAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Savannah, in the county of Chatham and State of Georgia, have invented new and useful Improvements in Diaper-Supports, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to diaper-supports.

A disadvantage in diaper-supports as generally constructed is that they must be worn in addition to the usual underwear of the child, for which reason the free movement of the body is prevented and undue weight and warmth of clothes is caused. Furthermore, f

the element of expense is involved in the necessity of furnishing a child with a diapersupport in addition to the underwear.

The object of the present invention is to avoid the discomfort and expense attending the use of ordinary forms of diaper-supports.

With the'foregoing and other minor objects in view, which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention residesl in the combination, with an ordinary undershirt, of improved diaper-supporting means.

The invention also resides in the particular combination and arrangement of parts and in the precise details of construction hereinafter described and claimed as a practical einbodiment of the invention. Y

ln the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, Figure l is a front elevation of a combined garment and diaper'-V support constructed in accordance with the invention. Fig. 2 is a similar view, the undergarment being unbuttoned in order more clearly to illustrate the diaper-supporting means. Fig. 3 is a detail View of an' elastic tab suitable for use in connectionwith the inf vention.

cured along one side 4of the opening at the front of the garmentis a strong strip 2, which is formed at its lower end with a plurality of buttonholes. The stitching by which the strip 2 is secured in position terminates, preferably, above the upper buttonhole 3, so that the lower end of said strip will hang free. Adjustably and removably attached to the lower end of the strip 2, by means of a button 4:, is a diaper-supporting tab 5, the central portion 6 of which, preferably, is formed of elastic material. The diaper 7 (indicated conventionally in Fig. 1) is secured to the lower end 8 of the tab by means of a safetypin or other suitable device. Extending vertically down the back of the garment 1, from the neck portion thereof, is a strip 9, which is similar to the strip 2. said strip 9 being formed at its. lower end with a plurality of buttonholes, by means of which a diaper-supporting tab similarlto that described may be adjustably and removably secured thereto.

- It will be observed that both of the strips 2 and 9 extend only a portion of the way down the inside'of the garment, so that said garment may be given any desired length. By adjustably and removably securing the diapersupporting tabs to the strips 2 and 9, which, as will be apparent, serve to strengthen the garment and to prevent it from being stretched out of shape by the diaper, said tabs may be adjusted to dispose the diaper in proper position. Furthermore, when the undergarment is washed the tabs may be removed in order to prevent the loss of their elasticity through the action of water.

It willbe apparent that the strip 2, in addition to its function of supporting the forward end of the diaper without imposing such strain on the garment as would destroy its shape, also serves the function of closing the seam down the front of the garment when it is lttoned, and thus protects the chest of the chi By combining the improved diaper-supporting means in the manner described with an or dinary form of undergarment the discomfort and expense of providing two separate articles are avoided, as previously indicated.

ln its particular combination and arrangement of parts and in its precise details of construction the deviee of this invention constitutes an improvement over prior construe tions intended for e similar purpose.
