PATENT OFFICE.
.COMBINATION WEAFilNG-APPAREL.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 770,562, dated September 20, 1904. I A Application filed Jnnel, 1904. Serial No. 212,650. (No model.)
To aZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALICE' HENRIETTA DussAR'r, a citizen of the United States, residing at Nogales, in the county of Santa Cruz and Territory of Arizona, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in a Combined Catamenial Sack, Hose-Supporter, Shield, and Bustle-Holder, of which the following is a'speciiication.
My invention relates to improvements in protectors for female Wearing-apparel, wherein I combine different articles, being a catamenial sack, hose-supporter, and an apron or shield, thus producing a single article; and the invention consists in the novel construetion, combination, and arrangement of parts of whichit is composed, all as will be hereinafter more fully explained, and particularly pointed out in the appended claims. Y The annexed drawings, to which reference is made, fully illustrate-- my invention', in whichw A Figure l represents a plan view of my combination device, and Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional View of the same. Referring by letter to the accompanying drawings, A designates the protector or combination wearing-apparel, comprising a belt a, an apron or shield hose-supporter c, and a catamenial sack d. This belt, which buckles around the Waist of the wearer, is provided in front and rear with vertical straps e and f, that are stitched at their upper ends to the belt, as at s s, and their free lower ends are provided with fastening devices or safetypins 'g g, adapted to engage and hold the front and rear ends of the catamenial sack d. Suspended from this belt are vertical straps or hose-supporters l1, t, which latter are also stitched at their upper ends tothe belt aforesaid, while their lower free ends are provided with clamps it' for engaging and holding taut the hose of the wearer.
Connected to the hose-supporters and the belt? through the medium of straps, is an apron or shield I), constructedof waterproof material, the same being worn in rear of the wearer, and the upper' end of said shield is secured or stitched to an elastic horizontal strap j, which in turn is secured at each end Zt to the vertical hose-supporters. A second and similar horizontal elastic strap Z, but somewhat longer than the strap j, is arranged below the latter and secured at its ends 'r 1' to the hose-supporters as well as to the apron or shield, as shown at n. Interposed between the belt and the upper end of the apron or shield are short vertical straps o, which are secured at their upper ends p to the belt, and attheir lower ends the same are secured to the upper edge of said shield, as at r.
Having thus described the diderent parts combined in a single article of which my de vice is composed, I will now explain its operation.
It will be readily observed from the above description, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, that in adjusting the article to the body of the wearer she first buckles the belt around her waist, after which the opposite ends of the catamenial sack are attached to the lower ends of the front a rear vertical straps e f and the su ppor' are secured to the hose in the usual man at the same time the shield is suspended rear of the wearer and supported by the shoL vertical straps secured to the belt, said shield being retained in position and prevented from lateral displacement by the elastic horizontal straps j Z, which straps by their elasticity permit free movement of the wearers limbs,
and said waterproof shield provides a sureA protector at all times and will be beneath the wearer when in a sitting position, and when in a standing position in rear of the person, thus shielding and protecting the clothing of the wearer from being soiled.
If desirable, the inner face of the shield may be provided with a covering of stockinet to prevent the shield from too close Contact or clinging to the wearer, and the straps and belt may be made of any suitable material, and a device as herein described is durable and inexpensive to manufacture. i
Having described my invention, what I claim, and desire-to secure by Letters Patent, 1s
l. The combination with the belt, sack-sud porters and hose-supporters,of the shield, elas tic horizontal straps and the vertical straps IOO whereby the shield is suspended from and supported by the belt-substantially as described.
2. The combination with the belt, sack-su pporters and hose-supporters of the horizontal elastic straps connecting said hose-supporters to one another, the shield stitched to said horizontal straps, and vertical straps, the latter secured at their upper end to the belt and et their lower end to the upper edge of the shield, whereby the latter is suspended from end supported by said belt, substantially as described.,
3. The within-described combined cetamenial sack, hose supporters and protector 0r shield, consisting of thebelt, provided with the front and rear straps for suspending the sack, the l10sesupporters, connected at their upper end to said belt, and provided at their eser AVAILABLE CGP" ALlCE HENRIETTA DESSART Witnesses:
