My invention relates tothe construction of a last for the manufacture of nailed or pegged boots and shoes, and consists in attaching a metal bottom or sole to the ordinary last` This bottom or sole has n proJectlon or flange on its face, so that when the pegsor nails are driven through' the s'ole they will be battered down or be` turned up and clinched, vand not protrude through the upper` leather, asl'is the case where a wooden'la'st or a metal face or bottom is employed, without-the ange orrprojection around it Referring to the drawings, forming a. part of this specification, for a further illustration of my invention-.- Figure 1 isp-a side elevation. i Figure 2 is a bottom view.
