In the annexed drawings, making n part of this speciication- Figure 1 represents `a. perspective o' my beehive, ,with the comhinedmovnble comb-frames :ind combfoundations in their usuel position when adjusted for use, and i Figure 2 represents a. plan view of the honeyfcomb '.foundetions. The nature oi' my" more fully described. v
In the annexed drawings, A represents my improved patent beehive, and B represents the -i'orm of .the comb-foundations.
invention consists in preparing movabio"'honeycomh founda'ionsyn's'will be hereafter' The comb-fonnddtions B are mad'eof thin sheets of wood, pasteboard, birch-bark, or'other sntao matel rial, dipped in meltedbees-wax or other suitable wax, until` suciently coated to work pliable, and then I impress the same with a. suitable die, so as to form the bottom or base of.honeycells. The wax maybe put on both s ides of .the sheets of wood, and stamped, or may be put on one side, and two sheets tacked or glued to suitable slats, as shown, so es to form a. chamber between them, l v
I make a hole through the plates or sheets B, near 4the upper edge thereof, and insert therein a, pipe, x, so
as te form a convenient passage 4for the bees through from-one part of the hive to another, or to the surplushoney boxes e, and'thus save the time and trouble of passing over unclosed cells and comb.
Having .thus fully described my invention, what I claim as'new, and desire to'securc by Letters Rntent, vis The honey-combv foundation B, when provided with a. passage, a1, and constructed substantially as and for the purposes her/ein speoied. I f
In testimony that I claim the foregoing, I have hereunto sot my hand, this 21th day of February, 1868.
