'lO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:

Be it known that I, GEORGE R. PEOKHAM, ofthe city and county ofWorcester, and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Animal-Wheels for' Cages; and I do hereby declare the followingio be a'fulland exact description of the same', reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and letters'of reference marked thereon. 1 v

Myimprovement consists in using sheet metal, and cutting out of' the same, by use of dies or other methods, slots or perforations, so as to leave in transverse order bars y, or imitations of bars or rods, across the'sbeet thus used, the whole, when formed into a cylinder, with heads and pinions thereon, constituting a wheel for the purposeabove specified. v

The advantages of this method of construction may be briefly stated, as, facility of manufacture, strength and durability, smoothness and beauty of finish. The bars all being connected with the sheet or cylinder', with K the same strength as any part thereof', are not liable to become separated from the same, as in the`plan now in use, where each bar or rod is soldered or fastened in any other manner separately. All by this plan being but one piece, strength and evenncss of surface can more readilybe obtained.

I claim a Wheel' for animal-traps orcages, with the bars y, formed by cutting slots z, in'a sheetI of metal, as described and for the purposes set forth.
