IMPROVED PAPER BOX.

Specification forming part ofLetters Patent No. 76,830, dated April 14,1563- Paper Boxes; and I do hereby declare that'the' following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof', reference beiug'had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon;

In the annexed drawings, m-.ikingpa-rt of this speci1ioationA represents a blank.v piece ot' paper of suitable thickness, size, and shape for making the bottom and sides'ot' a paper box. In this case the paperis made round in shape., and is for the purpose of makinga round box. In order to determine the size of the box, I measure the height ofthe side of the box and t'henone-half the diameter ofthe bottom, and with these two dimensions combined I have a radins by which [strike the circle upon the' paper ot' which the box is to be formed. With the radius ot' halt' the diameter ot' the bottom ot the box I then strike a circle from the center. of the paper, which tells'me the size ofthe bottom. I then cut a series of kerfs from this circle, which indicates the bottom ot' the box, toward the outer edge of the paper, and thus form the series ot' segments BB, which .may be as many as desirable..` The center C is then placed over a. hollow cylinder ot suitable size, and forced down by means ot afollowerot'the size and shape of said center. 'Ihe sections B B then stand at right angles to the center C, v

and the contiguous edges of the sections overlap each other. They commence to lap alittle near the bottom, and lap more as they approach their upper edges, and where they lap they'are glued or pasted fast together. I now paste in an inside lining and then an outside covering, which completes the body of the box.

Thislining and outer covering may both be' pasted ou at the same time the body is pressed into the forlner,`so as, to complete the whole at one operation.
