EDWIN R. DRAKE, OF DE LAND, FLORIDA.
SUSPENSORY BAN DAG E.
SPECIFICATION formingpart of Letters Patent No, 746,474, dated December 8, 1903.
Application filed January 3 1903.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EDWIN R. DRAKE, of- De Land, in the county of Volusia and State of Florid a,have invented a new and useful Improvement in Suspensory Bandages, of which the following is a specification.
My invention pertains to an improvement in the leg-bands usually forming an attachment of the scrotal bag of suspensory bandages.
The details of construction, arrangement, attachment, and operation are as hereinafter described.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of a suspensory bandage provided with my improvement. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of a leg-band constructed according to my invention. Fig. 3 is a perspective view illustrating the connection between the leg-band and scrotal bag.
The scrotal bag or pouch 1 and body-band 2 may be constructed in any approved or wellknown form. The leg-band is made of two partsto wit, the central elastic one 3 and the inelastic end portions 4. The central part 3 is formed of two elastic tapes or bands which are laid fiat one upon the other throughout their length and sewed together along their edges. The inelastic tapes 4 are attached to such double central one 3 by inserting their Serial'No. 137.752. (No model.)
leg-band as a whole has the following advantages: It is elastic at the center or adjacent to the scrotal bag, where elasticity is most important for comfort of the wearer of the bandage, and durability is promoted, since strain and tension are mainly relieved where they are usually greatest. The construction and form of the central elastic part 3 enable it to lie fiat against the under side or back of the legs of the wearer, and the outer parts 4 being inelastic do not contract and expand and thus creep or slide on the skin, whereby the comfort of the wearer is further enhanced.
What I claim is The combination, with the body-band and the scrotal bag having a ring attached, of the leg-band composed of a central part formed of two elastic tapes sewed together and sliding in said ring, and two inelastic end portions which are connected with the body-band as shown and described.
EDWIN R. DRAKE. Witnesses:
